The first thing most owners ask us has nothing to do with AI. It's this: "Do I have to change my phone number?"
The answer is no. And the reason owners ask tells you a lot about how small businesses actually run.
A business phone number is years of work. It's on your truck, your yard signs, your invoices, and every listing you've ever paid for. Customers have it saved in their phones. Google, Angie's and Thumbtack send leads to it every week.
One owner we talked to put it simply when we asked about switching: it isn't worth it. He's right. Changing a number to try a new tool means updating every listing, reprinting every card and hoping old customers find you. Nobody should have to take that risk to see whether AI answering works.
The setup is call forwarding, the same feature your phone already has.

To your customers, nothing looks different. They dial the same number they always have, and someone picks up.
This is the second question, and it comes up most with solo owners who run one phone for everything. Your kids, your spouse and your best customers all call the same cell.
There are two ways to handle it. Some carriers let your saved contacts ring straight through to you while everyone else reaches the agent. Whether that works depends on your carrier and phone, so we test it during setup before we promise it. The other option is a separate business line that forwards to the agent, which keeps family calls on your personal number.
We'll ask you which one fits before we build anything.
You stop playing phone tag from a crawlspace. Calls that came in while you were on a job show up as a text with the details already written down. After-hours calls get answered instead of going to a voicemail most people never leave. And the spam calls that used to pull you off the work every half hour stop reaching you at all.
What doesn't change is everything your customers already know about you.
Most owners are live in 1 to 3 business days. We set up the agent on your services and prices, run test calls with you, and turn on forwarding when you're happy with how it sounds. Then we listen to the first weeks of calls and tune it.
Same number. More of your calls answered.
